Sautéed Mushrooms with Garlic

Sautéed Mushrooms with Garlic uses white or brown mushrooms cooked in a mix of butter and olive oil with fresh thyme and minced garlic. The mushrooms are browned on one side and then cooked further with aromatics until tender. This technique produces mushrooms with a golden exterior and rich, savory flavor, enhanced by fresh herbs and garlic.

Description

This recipe begins by slicing mushrooms into half-inch pieces and wiping them clean to avoid sogginess. The mushrooms are initially cooked over medium heat in olive oil without stirring, allowing one side to brown and develop color. Then garlic and thyme are added to infuse aroma during an additional few minutes of cooking with occasional stirring. Butter enriches the flavor and adds silkiness.

The finished mushrooms are tender yet retain some texture, flavored by the buttery, garlicky pan juices and the herbal note from fresh thyme. Salt and pepper seasoning finish the dish. This sauté works well as a side, topping for steaks, or addition to pasta or grain bowls.

Leftovers should be stored in airtight containers and consumed quickly due to mushroom freshness. Butter may be substituted with vegan alternatives to suit dietary needs. Adding other aromatics like onions is an option to tailor the flavor.
