Sautéed Sweet Potatoes
Description
The recipe calls for peeling and dicing medium sweet potatoes before cooking them in extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. By stirring every couple of minutes, the potatoes develop even browning and cook through to a fork-tender texture. Ground cumin is stirred in during the last minute to infuse a subtle spice.
The resulting sautéed sweet potatoes combine soft, creamy insides with lightly crisped surfaces, offering a satisfying contrast in texture. The cumin adds a mildly smoky aroma and depth without overpowering the natural sweetness of the tubers.
Sautéed Sweet Potatoes pair well with proteins like chicken or fish and can be a flavorful addition to a vegetable medley or grain bowl. The seasoning is balanced for general palates but can be adjusted to taste.
Dice the potatoes uniformly to ensure even cooking. Cooked sweet potatoes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4–5 days. You can also freeze cooked pieces in a single layer before transferring to freezer bags for up to 4 months; thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
