Savory Cheese Ball without Nuts
Description
This cheese ball mixture combines softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar and mozzarella, finely chopped onion and green onion, and seasonings including garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and Tabasco or another hot sauce. The combined flavors balance creamy, savory, tangy, and spicy notes.
Chilled to firm the mixture, it's then rolled in a coating of cooked crumbled bacon and more green onion. The bacon adds smoky crunch, and the fresh green onion brings brightness. This contrast enhances the creamy interior.
This cheese ball is served with vegetable sticks such as carrots, celery, and cucumber, as well as crackers, making it a versatile appetizer for gatherings. It can be prepared ahead and refrigerated.
The cheese ball can be stored wrapped tightly or in an airtight container for up to a week. The bacon coating softens over time in the refrigerator but remains flavorful.
