Seven Layer Taco Dip
Description
This recipe layers refried beans mixed with taco seasoning on the bottom of a baking dish, providing a savory, slightly spiced foundation. A blend of softened cream cheese and sour cream creates a smooth, tangy layer spread over the beans. Next, guacamole adds freshness with avocado’s richness, followed by a bright salsa layer for acidity and spice. Shredded colby cheese melts slightly atop the salsa, and crisp shredded lettuce and sliced olives finalize the dip.
The layers remain distinct, making it visually appealing. The mix of creamy, crunchy, and tangy ingredients offers a range of complementary textures and flavors typical of Tex-Mex cuisine. The dip can be served immediately or chilled briefly to meld flavors.
Seven Layer Taco Dip is typically presented with chips or crackers for scooping and makes a popular appetizer for casual gatherings. Leftovers can be refrigerated up to two days with the freshness of ingredients best preserved by covering tightly. It fills a 9x9 inch pan fully, with the option to spread thinner in a larger pan.
Ingredients
- 16 ounces refried beans 1 can, traditional
- 3 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 12 ounces guacamole
- 15.5 ounces salsa 1 jar, your favorite brand
- 8 ounces colby cheese shredded
- 1 cup lettuce finely shredded

Instructions
- Note: This recipe will fill a 9x9 square baking dish to the top. You can also spread it in a 9x13 baking pan but the layers will be thinner.

- Spread the guacamole over the sour cream mix.
- Spread the salsa over the guacamole.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the salsa.
