Shirley Temple Ice Cream Float

The Shirley Temple Ice Cream Float combines lemon-lime soda, grenadine, and vanilla ice cream, creating a fragrant, sweet, and creamy float. The fizzy soda mixed with the rich ice cream results in a refreshing, chilled dessert drink with a balance of citrus and cherry notes. Garnished optionally with maraschino cherries and lime slices, this treat offers a nostalgic, enjoyable texture and flavor suitable for parties or casual desserts.

Description

The Shirley Temple Ice Cream Float is a soft, fizzy drink made by mixing lemon-lime soda with grenadine syrup and topping it with scoops of vanilla ice cream. The carbonated lemon-lime soda brings a crisp, light citrus flavor, while the grenadine adds a sweet pomegranate essence and deep red color. Adding vanilla ice cream creates a creamy, smooth texture that mellows the acidity of the soda and provides a rich mouthfeel. Served immediately after assembling to maintain the float's balance of textures, this drink is both visually appealing and delightfully tasty. Garnishes like maraschino cherries and lime wedges enhance its presentation and add additional fruity accents. It is a sweet, casual beverage ideal for warmer days or as a fun dessert option.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 ½ cups lemon-lime soda
  • 2 TBS grenadine
  • 6-8 coops vanilla ice cream
  • maraschino cherries (optional garnish)
  • lime optional garnish, slices

Instructions

  2. Add two scoops of ice cream to the glass of your choice. Top with soda mixture.

Notes

  • Chill the soda before mixing to slow the melting of the ice cream.
  • For a citrusier taste, add two tablespoons of sweetened lime juice to the soda mixture.
  • Mix lemon-lime soda and ginger ale equally as a variation in flavor.
  • Prepare and refrigerate the soda and grenadine mixture ahead, but assemble and serve the float immediately for best texture.
