Shirley Temple Recipe
Description
The "Shirley Temple Recipe" combines a 2-liter bottle of Sprite or 7Up with grenadine syrup to create a sweet, bubbly drink. Ice is added to chill the beverage, and maraschino cherries are used both as garnish and mixed into the punch for additional visual appeal and subtle cherry flavor. The preparation is straightforward: the soda and grenadine are mixed together in a punch bowl or beverage dispenser, then served over ice.
This mocktail offers a crisp, lightly sweet flavor that’s both festive and easy to prepare. Its redness and cherry garnish give it a distinctive look, making it suitable for parties, family gatherings, and kid-friendly occasions. The drink can be portioned individually or served in larger quantities from a punch bowl.
For convenience, the mixture can be stored in the fridge, though the fizz will diminish over time. To restore carbonation, add a splash of soda before serving. Alternatively, the mixture can be frozen in popsicle molds with cherries added for a refreshing treat.
Ingredients
- 1 (2-liter) bottle Sprite or 7Up
- 1⅓ cups grenadine syrup
- ice
- maraschino cherry for garnish
Instructions
- Add the Sprite to a punch bowl or beverage dispenser.
- Mix in the grenadine syrup. Add Ice.
- Mix a few cherries directly into the punch and/or have them in a separate bowl to add after pouring the drink into a glass.
Notes
- To serve single portions, mix 1 cup of 7Up or Sprite with 2-3 tablespoons of grenadine syrup and ice in a glass, garnished with maraschino cherries.
- Store any mixed mixture in the refrigerator; carbonation will fade but can be revived by adding extra soda before serving.
- For a frozen treat, pour the Shirley Temple mixture into popsicle molds, adding a cherry or two before freezing.
