Shrimp Fra Diavolo Recipe

Shrimp Fra Diavolo is a spicy seafood dish featuring shrimp cooked with onion, garlic, chili flakes, oregano, and a tomato-based sauce enriched with white wine. This recipe delivers a balanced heat and acidity with tender shrimp suitable for serving over pasta, risotto, or alongside bread and salad.

Description

This Shrimp Fra Diavolo recipe starts with sautéing onion and garlic until translucent, then briefly frying shrimp seasoned with black pepper, chili flakes, and oregano. White wine and tomato components follow, simmering briefly to create a coherent, thickened sauce. The dried herbs and spices provide distinct Italian flavors with a noticeable but not overwhelming spiciness from the chili flakes.

The shrimp retain their juiciness from the short cooking time and are complemented by the bright, rich tomato and wine sauce. Fresh basil can be added as a garnish to add aromatic freshness.

Serve this dish hot on a bed of pasta or creamy risotto, or enjoy it standalone with crusty bread or polenta and a simple salad. The method highlights layering flavors while keeping the shrimp tender and flavorful.
