Shrimp Marinade

Shrimp Marinade blends olive oil, honey, soy sauce, lemon zest, fresh herbs, and spices to infuse raw shrimp with a balance of sweet, savory, and herbal notes. Marinating for at least an hour allows flavors to develop before cooking. The reserved marinade is drizzled over cooked shrimp to enhance the taste and presentation.

Description

This Shrimp Marinade recipe uses peeled, deveined shrimp with tails intact for visual appeal. The marinade combines olive oil, honey, soy sauce, lemon zest, parsley, thyme, salt, black pepper, garlic, and optional chili flakes to create a layered flavor profile that complements shrimp’s natural sweetness.

After mixing the marinade, the shrimp are coated and refrigerated to absorb the flavors for a period from one hour up to eight. The shrimp can be cooked by broiling, grilling, or sautéing until opaque and pink, which typically takes 2-3 minutes per side.

The reserved tablespoon of marinade is warmed and drizzled over the cooked shrimp, adding moisture and an intensified taste. This marinade can be adapted with or without chili flakes for heat preference.

This preparation works well for appetizers or as part of a main course accompanied by sides such as rice or salad. The fresh herbs contribute brightness that complements the citrus and sweetness in the marinade.
