Simple Grilled Swordfish

This simple grilled swordfish features fresh fillets marinated in a tangy mixture of lime juice, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and spices. The marinade imparts bright acidity and subtle heat from cayenne pepper alongside herbal notes from dried basil. Grilling the swordfish over high heat cooks the fish quickly, resulting in a tender, flaky texture with a slight charred exterior. The flavors are clean and balanced, highlighting the natural richness of the fish.

Description

Simple Grilled Swordfish involves marinating swordfish fillets briefly in a citrus and vinegar-based mixture with olive oil, salt, pepper, dried basil, and cayenne pepper. The marinade brightens the flavor and slightly tenderizes the fish. After marinating for 15 minutes in the fridge, the swordfish is grilled over high heat, usually between 450 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, for 5 to 7 minutes per side depending on thickness.

Grilling creates a firm but flaky texture, with lightly crisped edges from the direct heat. The seasoning blend complements the meaty texture of swordfish without overwhelming its natural flavor. The lime juice and vinegar provide a refreshing tanginess balanced by the olive oil’s richness.

This dish is suitable as a main course served with simple sides such as grilled vegetables, rice, or salad. It works well for a straightforward summer dinner when fresh swordfish is available. The straightforward marinade and quick grilling method keep preparation minimal while delivering good flavor.
