Simple Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Simple Roasted Brussels Sprouts are halved sprouts tossed with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roasted at high heat until caramelized and tender. Roasting brings out their natural sweetness while the crisp edges add texture contrast. The method requires minimal ingredients and straightforward preparation, making it a practical side dish that enhances the flavor of this often overlooked vegetable. Leftovers can be refrigerated or frozen and reheated with care to retain texture.

Description

The recipe for Simple Roasted Brussels Sprouts uses fresh Brussels sprouts trimmed and halved, with some loose leaves included for additional crispness. The sprouts are coated in olive or avocado oil along with salt and black pepper, then spread on a sheet pan. Roasting at 425°F (220°C) for 25 to 30 minutes caramelizes the exterior while keeping the centers tender. Rotating the pan halfway through ensures even cooking without tossing the sprouts, preserving some leaf crispness.

This roasting method emphasizes the vegetable’s natural flavors enhanced by simple seasoning, yielding a pleasing balance of slightly crisp edges and soft interiors. It's a versatile side suitable for numerous meals.

Storage notes recommend keeping leftovers in airtight containers for up to three days in the fridge or freezing in suitable bags for up to three months. Gentle reheating in the microwave or crisping back up in a hot oven helps retain texture without burning.
