Simple Skillet Pork Chops with Caramelized Onions Bacon
Description
This recipe features boneless pork chops cooked in a skillet and complemented by a topping of caramelized onions and diced bacon. The onions are slowly cooked in butter and bacon grease until lightly browned and soft, developing a natural sweetness. Separately, the bacon is cooked crisp and set aside.
The pork chops are pan-seared briefly on each side, then combined with a sauce made by whisking chicken broth, heavy cream, and arrowroot mixture in the skillet, using the fond (browned bits) to boost flavor. The chops are then simmered covered for 15-20 minutes until cooked through. The caramelized onions and bacon are returned to the skillet, adding savory and smoky notes atop the tender pork.
This creates a layered dish balancing the pork's heartiness with the sweet and rich flavors of onions and bacon, finished with a creamy sauce to enhance moisture and mouthfeel.
