Slow Cooker Apple Cider

This slow cooker apple cider infuses apple juice with whole warming spices like cinnamon sticks, allspice, cloves, and star anise, along with fresh orange slices. Simmering gently brings out the depth of flavors, producing a cozy, spiced cider drink. Garnishing with cinnamon sticks, apples, oranges, and cranberries adds visual appeal and seasonal freshness. It can be kept warm for self-serve enjoyment.

Description

Slow Cooker Apple Cider blends eight cups of apple juice with brown sugar and a selection of whole spices including cinnamon sticks, allspice berries, whole cloves, and an optional star anise. Sliced fresh orange introduces brightness and enhances flavor complexity. The mixture cooks for one and a half hours on high or three hours on low in a slow cooker, allowing the spices to infuse thoroughly.

After cooking, the whole spices and orange slices are removed to achieve a smooth spiced cider. It is served garnished with cinnamon sticks and fresh apple, orange, and cranberry slices to provide a festive, rustic presentation. The heat from the slow cooker keeps the cider warm, making it suitable for gatherings.

The use of whole spices allows gradual flavor extraction, and extending simmer time will intensify the spice profile. The recipe’s warm, aromatic cider is ideal for seasonal celebrations or casual sipping on cool days.
