Slow Cooker Cheeseburger Soup
Description
Slow Cooker Cheeseburger Soup brings together ground beef, potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions, cooked slowly with chicken broth and flavored with dried basil and parsley. The addition of a roux made from butter and flour, mixed with milk and sour cream, creates a smooth, creamy base. Cheddar cheese added near the end melts into the mix, adding richness and a sharp, cheesy taste. The ground beef is browned separately to maintain texture before joining the soup. This slow-cooked method gives the soup a thick and hearty consistency with tender potatoes and vegetables infused with savory cheeseburger-inspired flavors.
The soup offers a balance of textures from tender diced potatoes and softened vegetables alongside the creamy cheese-infused broth and seasoned ground beef. The blend of dried herbs contributes to subtle earthiness, complementing the richness of the cheese and sour cream.
It’s best served hot, optionally topped with green onions or bacon bits for added texture and flavor contrast. This soup suits a main meal when paired with bread or a light salad for a satisfying dinner or lunch. The slow cooker method allows for unattended cooking, freeing you during the day while it develops deep flavors.
