Slow Cooker Coca Cola Chicken
Description
Slow Cooker Coca Cola Chicken uses simple ingredients including chicken breasts, black pepper, garlic salt, barbecue sauce, and Coca-Cola. Chicken is seasoned and placed in a crockpot with half the barbecue sauce and a cup of Coca-Cola. It cooks on low heat for several hours until tender. After draining the initial cooking liquid, a mixture of the remaining barbecue sauce and Coca-Cola is poured over the chicken, and it cooks further to deepen the sauce's flavor and coat the chicken thoroughly.
The chicken emerges with a balance of savory seasonings and the subtle sweetness and caramel notes from the Coca-Cola. Its slow cooking ensures the meat becomes tender and infused with the sauce's complex flavors. You can serve the chicken as whole pieces topped with the rich sauce, or shred it and stir it back into the sauce for easier serving or sandwiches.
This dish works well as a casual meal and pairs nicely with simple sides like rice, salad, or steamed vegetables. It’s a practical dish to prepare ahead and reheat, making it convenient for weekday dinners or meal prep.
Leftover chicken should be refrigerated in an airtight container and consumed within five days to maintain freshness and food safety.
