Slow Cooker Overnight Oatmeal

Slow Cooker Overnight Oatmeal is a hearty breakfast made by cooking steel cut oats in soy milk and water overnight with vanilla extract, apple pie spice, and salt. The long, slow cooking creates a creamy, tender texture, enhancing the oats’ natural nutty flavor. This make-ahead method provides warm, ready-to-eat oatmeal without morning effort.

Description

This oatmeal recipe combines steel cut oats with soy milk, water, vanilla extract, apple pie spice, and salt in a slow cooker. Cooking on low for 9 to 11 hours allows the oats to absorb liquids and spices fully. The resulting oatmeal is creamy but with a slight chew typical of steel cut oats. The spices impart subtle warmth and sweetness without added sugar.

The slow cooker technique ensures a hands-off process and consistency in texture. Once cooked, oatmeal is stirred and served warm with optional toppings such as fresh berries, bananas, toasted nuts, dried fruit, honey, brown sugar, or coconut, allowing customization according to taste and preference.
