Slow Cooker Sausage and Peppers
Description
This recipe layers sliced bell peppers and onions at the bottom of a slow cooker, seasoned lightly with salt and pepper, then topped with Italian sausage browned to develop a crust and enhance flavor. Slow cooking on low for 6-7 hours, or high for about 4 hours, softens the vegetables and allows the sausage juices to mingle with the peppers and onions, producing a rich, tender filling.
The final mix can be served directly or spooned onto French bread for a sandwich-style meal. The dish delivers balanced textures, with the softened vegetables complementing the meaty sausage. Slow cooking provides ease and a well-developed taste without much active preparation.
