Slow Cooker Smothered Pork Chops
Description
This recipe begins with seasoning pork chops and browning them alongside crisp bacon pieces. Onions and garlic are sautéed to develop sweetness and depth before being added to a slow cooker with broth, Worcestershire sauce, and bay leaves. The pork chops sit upright in the cooker as they slowly cook, absorbing the aromatic flavors.
The slow-cooking process tenderizes the pork chops, infusing them with the smoky, savory notes from bacon and bay leaves. Once cooked, the chops are removed and the cooking liquid is thickened using a cornstarch, vinegar, and water mixture, resulting in a glossy, rich gravy that coats the meat.
This comforting dish is ideal served hot with mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the gravy. The combination of browned pork, smoky bacon, and the thick, tangy gravy delivers a classic homestyle meal that benefits from the slow cooker’s gentle heat.
