Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pulled Pork

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pulled Pork offers tender pork tenderloin slow-cooked in a mixture of rice vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and a touch of sweetness from agave nectar. The pork becomes so soft it easily shreds, then is tossed in a thickened teriyaki sauce. The dish is finished with sesame seeds and green onions, which provide a toasted crunch and fresh bite. It’s a convenient recipe that yields flavorful pulled pork suitable for serving over rice or in whole wheat buns.

Description

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pulled Pork features pork tenderloins cooked slowly in a sauce combining rice vinegar, soy sauce, agave nectar, ginger, garlic, and canola oil. The slow cooking breaks down the pork until it’s tender enough to shred easily. After shredding, the cooking sauce is thickened with cornstarch and water on the stovetop to create a glossy teriyaki glaze that coats the meat. Toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions garnish the dish for added texture and freshness.

This dish is versatile as a main course served over steamed rice, or as a filling for whole wheat hamburger buns for a handheld option. The slow cooker method allows for unattended cooking, making it convenient for busy meals.

When cooking, make sure to coat the pork well with the sauce at the start to infuse flavor throughout. The cornstarch slurry helps the sauce cling to the shredded pork without making it too thick. Garnishing just before serving preserves the crunch of the sesame seeds and the bright bite of the green onions.
