Slutty Brownies
Description
This recipe assembles three distinct layers to create a decadent bar dessert. The bottom cookie dough layer is prepared with butter, sugars, egg, vanilla, flour, and chocolate chips, providing a chewy, buttery foundation. A whole layer of Oreo cookies is placed on top, adding a creamy, chocolate crunch center. The final top layer is a classic chocolate brownie batter composed of butter, sugars, unsweetened cocoa powder, eggs, vanilla, salt, and flour, resulting in a rich and slightly fudgy finish.
Baked at 350°F for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean with some crumbs, these bars develop a pleasing combination of textures and deep chocolate flavor. Cooling fully, preferably at least 2 hours, allows the layers to set for clean slicing.
The recipe can be adapted by using a boxed brownie mix, though adjustments to the layers quantities and pan size may be needed. This dessert is suitable for sharing or potlucks and is visually impressive with its layered structure.
Ingredients
Cookie Dough Layer
- 1/2 cup butter softened, salted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg large
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Oreo Layer
- 20-22 Oreo cookies double stuffed
Brownie Layer
- 1/2 cup butter melted, salted
- 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
- 2 egg large
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Create a parchment paper sling to line the bottom of a 9x9-inch square baking pan.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together for 2 minutes until light. Add the egg and vanilla, mixing well and scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and salt, stirring just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips, then set press into the prepared pan.
- Arrange the Oreos on top of the cookie dough in a single layer. You may need to break some in half to fill significant gaps.
- In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder together. Add eggs, vanilla, and salt, whisking until combined.
- Add the flour to the chocolate mixture, stirring just until incorporated, then spread this over the Oreo layer.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean with just a few crumbs.
- Cool completely (at least 2 hours) before removing the brownies from the pan and cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
- Using box brownie mix is possible, but double the cookie and Oreo layers, and use a 9x13-inch pan if doing so.
- Ensure the brownies cool completely (at least 2 hours) before removing from the pan to maintain clean slices.
