Small Batch Strawberry Jam

Small Batch Strawberry Jam cooks fresh strawberries with sugar and lemon juice until thickened into a sweet spread. The simmering breaks down the fruit and concentrates the flavors, resulting in a bright, slightly tart jam ideal for toast or desserts. The small quantity suits fresh use or gifts.

Description

This Small Batch Strawberry Jam recipe uses fresh strawberries combined with granulated sugar and lemon juice to balance sweetness and acidity. Cooking over medium heat breaks down the fruit while dissolving the sugar. Adding optional lemon zest enhances the fruit's brightness. Boiling continues until the mixture reaches a jam-like thickness around 220°F, ensuring a good set. Stirring prevents scorching.

The jam's texture is thick but spreadable, showcasing the natural strawberry flavor tempered by the added sugar and citrus. Made in a small quantity, it's ideal for fresh consumption, spreading on bread, or using as a topping for yogurt or desserts.

After cooking, the jam is cooled, then refrigerated and used within two weeks to enjoy its freshness. This small batch method avoids leftovers and keeps the flavor vibrant.
