Smoked Brisket Sandwiches
Description
This recipe assembles sandwiches using warmed chopped smoked brisket coated in barbecue sauce, placed on lightly toasted buns with pickles and a creamy crunchy coleslaw. The coleslaw is made by mixing tri-colored broccoli slaw, shredded red cabbage, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, salt, and sugar. The coleslaw provides a fresh and tangy counterpoint to the smoky, rich flavor of the brisket and barbecue sauce.
The sandwiches are built by layering pickles first, then a generous portion of the sauced brisket, and topping with as much coleslaw as preferred before finishing with the bun. This combination results in a harmonious mix of textures and flavors in every bite.
The brisket and slaw can be prepared a day in advance and stored separately in airtight containers for up to 3 days. Reheat the brisket gently before assembly to maintain juiciness and serve the slaw chilled for the best contrast.
