Smoked salmon chive devilled eggs

Smoked salmon chive devilled eggs feature hard-boiled eggs filled with a creamy mixture of smoked salmon, mayonnaise, sour cream, and cream cheese. Finely chopped chives and smoked paprika enhance the filling’s flavor, while lemon juice adds brightness. The texture is smooth and rich, with smoky and tangy notes. Garnished with extra smoked salmon, chives, and paprika, these eggs are an elegant appetizer or snack that balances creamy, smoky, and savory elements.

Description

In Smoked salmon chive devilled eggs, large hard-boiled eggs are halved and their yolks blended with mayonnaise, sour cream, cream cheese, and smoked salmon to create a silky filling. The addition of finely chopped chives and a touch of smoked paprika adds herbal and smoky undertones. Lemon juice brightens the mixture, balancing the richness of the dairy and salmon. The filling is piped back into the egg whites, topped with additional smoked salmon slices, chopped chives, and a sprinkle of paprika for color and aroma.

The eggs provide a tender white casing around the creamy, smoky filling, making them suitable as a sophisticated appetizer or light snack. The balance between the mayonnaise and cream cheese keeps the texture smooth but not overly heavy. These devilled eggs combine familiar flavors with a hint of smoky seafood, offering a flavorful twist on a classic recipe.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 egg extra large

for the filling

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 100 g smoked salmon approximately 3,5oz + extra for garnish
  • 2 tbsp chives finely chopped + extra for garnish
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika + extra for garnish
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice or to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of water to a gentle boil then add the eggs. Boil for 7-8 minutes (I used extra-large eggs and boiled them for 8 minutes).
  2. Remove from the water and place in an ice bath to stop cooking and cool them down.
  3. When the eggs have cooled, crack the shells then roll on a kitchen counter to loosen the shells. Peel the shells and discard.
  4. Halve the eggs and gently scoop out the yolks with a teaspoon.
  5. Place the yolks in the bowl of a food processor with the filling ingredients and blend until smooth.
  6. Scoop the filling back into the eggs then garnish with a slither of smoked salmon, chopped chives and paprika and serve.
