Smoked Sausage and Kale Skillet Gnocchi

This skillet dish combines tender gnocchi with browned smoked turkey sausage and wilted kale, all brought together with Parmesan and chicken stock. The sausage adds a savory, smoky flavor, while the kale provides a subtle bitterness and texture. Cooking the gnocchi separately before tossing it with sautéed aromatics and sausage ensures a satisfying, slightly crisp finish. The chicken stock and cheese create a lightly sauced pan that clings to the gnocchi and greens, making it a hearty one-pan meal.

Description

Smoked Sausage and Kale Skillet Gnocchi blends potato dumplings with smoky turkey sausage and fresh kale for a balanced meal. The gnocchi is boiled until tender, then combined in a skillet where the sausage is first browned with minced onions and garlic, releasing deep, savory notes. Adding chopped kale and chicken stock steams the greens until just wilted, infusing the dish with earthiness and moisture without heaviness. Finely grated Parmesan cheese finishes the skillet off, melting slightly to coat the gnocchi and sausage rounds. A pinch of red pepper flakes adds a mild heat that can be adjusted to taste. This recipe focuses on layering flavors and textures, offering a filling dinner that cooks conveniently in one pan.

Serve this gnocchi skillet as a main course or a substantial side. Its combination of sausage protein, tender gnocchi, and nutrient-rich kale makes it versatile for weeknight dinners. It pairs well with a crisp green salad or crusty bread. Leftover portions reheat well, and adding extra chicken stock during reheating helps maintain moisture and prevent the gnocchi from drying out.
