Snowman Truffles
Description
Snowman Truffles are made by mixing sweetened condensed milk with shredded coconut to form a mixture that is rolled into balls representing the body and head of a snowman. Coated with additional coconut for a snowy appearance, the truffles are structured into snowmen by adhering the smaller head ball atop the larger body with melted white chocolate. Decoration includes piping black icing for eyes and buttons, orange icing for the nose or orange pretzels, pretzel sticks for arms, and candy straps used as scarves. Cooling the assembled truffles allows them to firm up while retaining a chewy coconut texture.
The truffles offer a playful way to enjoy sweet coconut flavor with a tender, slightly sticky consistency from the condensed milk. The use of familiar candies and icings adds character and detail, making them visually appealing and appropriate for holiday treats or small party desserts. They hold together well but should be eaten within a week if refrigerated.
To maintain freshness, store the truffles in an airtight container either at room temperature for a day or chilled for up to a week. Rolling the coconut balls in extra shredded coconut helps prevent stickiness to hands and adds visual snow effect, enhancing the festive theme.
Ingredients
Coconut truffles:
- 11.25 oz sweetened condensed milk can
- 4 cups shredded coconut plus extra for rolling, or desiccated coconut
Decorate:
- 4 oz white chocolate melted
- Icing or store-bout black icing tube, black-colored
- Icing or orange sprinkles, orange-colored
- 24 pretzels 2 inches each, thin sticks
- 12 candy straps 5 inches long and in different colors
Instructions
Make the truffles:
- Stir the coconut and sweetened condensed milk together in a large mixing bowl until well combined.
- After that, roll the mixture into about 12 larger balls and 12 smaller balls, for the snowmen's bodies and heads.
- Add some extra shredded coconut to a shallow plate, and roll each coconut ball in coconut. Set aside.
Make the snowmen:
- Add some melted white chocolate onto the larger balls and stick the smaller ball on top of it. Allow the snowmen to firm up at room temperature or in the fridge before decorating.
Decorate the snowmen:
- Using piping bags, draw with the black icing the eyes and buttons.
- Using the orange icing draw the noses, or stick an orange pretzel instead.
- Insert the pretzel sticks into the snowmen to make arms and gently wrap the snowmen's necks with the candy straps.
- Store the snowmen truffles in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days, or in the fridge for up to 1 week.
Notes
- Store the truffles in an airtight container; they keep 1-2 days at room temperature or up to 1 week refrigerated.
- Rolling the balls in additional shredded coconut helps keep them from sticking and enhances the snowy appearance.
- Allow the assembled snowmen to firm up completely before decorating to ensure they hold together well.
