Southern Fried Corn
Description
This recipe features corn cooked in butter with finely chopped red onion over medium-low heat to encourage caramelization without burning. The long cooking time of about 30 minutes, with frequent stirring, allows the corn kernels and onions to brown lightly, enhancing sweetness and developing depth in flavor. The addition of agave nectar before serving further complements the natural sweetness, while salt balances the dish.
The resulting dish has a tender texture with lightly browned edges and a subtle caramelized taste. It can be served hot as a side to complement rich mains or as part of Southern-inspired meals.
