Southwest Turkey and Egg Breakfast Skillet

The Southwest Turkey and Egg Breakfast Skillet combines lean ground turkey seasoned with southwestern spices and sautéed with onions and salsa, folded into fluffy scrambled eggs. Topped with melted cheese and optional fresh toppings like avocado and tomatoes, this savory skillet provides a hearty, textured breakfast with smoky and spicy flavors.

Description

This recipe starts by cooking ground turkey with olive oil, diced onion, and a blend of chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and granulated garlic, seasoned with salt and pepper. Water and salsa are added to maintain moisture and infuse the meat with flavor. After cooking, the turkey mixture is removed from the pan.

Scrambled eggs mixed with egg whites and milk are cooked gently in the same skillet, then combined back with the turkey mixture near the end. The dish is topped with shredded Colby Jack cheese and covered briefly to melt the cheese evenly, resulting in a creamy, cheesy finish.

The skillet is often garnished with fresh vegetables and herbs like tomato, avocado, red onion, cilantro, and additional salsa for freshness and contrast. This makes it a filling breakfast or brunch option with a balanced mix of protein, spice, and fresh toppings.
