Spiced Orange Gin and Tonic

This Spiced Orange Gin and Tonic features a homemade syrup infused with orange peel, star anise, and cardamom, combined with gin and tonic water for a refreshing cocktail with warm, aromatic notes. The syrup adds sweetness and a spiced citrus depth, while fresh orange and rosemary garnish contribute brightness and herbaceous aroma. It's a distinctive twist on the classic gin and tonic.

Description

The cocktail is built around a spiced orange syrup made by simmering orange peel, sugar, water, star anise, and crushed cardamom pods until sugar dissolves and flavors infuse. After cooling, the syrup can be stored refrigerated for up to a week, maintaining its flavor. The gin and tonic is assembled by combining ice-filled glass with measured amounts of the syrup and gin, topped with tonic water and stirred gently.

Fresh garnishes of orange wedge and rosemary sprig add aromatic layers and visual appeal. The drink balances the sweetness and warmth from the syrup with the botanicals of the gin and the bitter effervescence of tonic, creating a layered sensory experience. It is suited for those who enjoy citrus-infused cocktails with a hint of spice.
