Spicy Avocado Hummus
Description
Spicy Avocado Hummus blends the creaminess of ripe avocados with the protein-rich texture of chickpeas. Garlic adds pungency, lime juice contributes acidity and freshness, and cilantro lends herbal notes. The mild heat from half a jalapeño balances these flavors, complemented by cumin which adds warmth and depth. Olive oil enriches the consistency, and adding water helps achieve the desired smoothness.
The preparation involves processing all ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth and well combined. Tasting and adjusting seasoning with extra lime juice or salt helps balance acidity and saltiness. The finished dip is creamy with a vibrant color and a gentle kick of spice.
This hummus works well served immediately as a snack or appetizer with vegetables, chips, or bread. It can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
Ingredients
- 2 avocado
- 1 can chickpeas drained and rinsed
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tablespoons lime juice approx. 1 lime

Instructions
- Drain and rinse a can of chickpeas.
- Add chickpeas to a blender or food processor along with the flesh of 2 avocados, 2 peeled garlic cloves, 2 Tablespoons lime juice, 15-20 sprigs cilantro (rinsed and bottoms twisted off), 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/2 teaspoon salt, freshly ground pepper, and 2 Tablespoons of olive oil
- Add a splash of water to the blender and blend until combined well. Taste for seasoning. (I added a squeeze of lime and another pinch of salt to this batch).

Notes
- Add more of the jalapeño pepper if a spicier flavor is desired.
