Spicy Hawaiian Burgers

These Spicy Hawaiian Burgers combine seasoned ground beef patties with a sweet and spicy pineapple relish and a smoky bacon crunch. The burgers are layered with melted pepper jack cheese, a chipotle-mayo spread, and a homemade Hawaiian BBQ sauce that balances teriyaki sweetness with a kick of red pepper flakes. The finely diced jalapeños and adobo-infused mayo add heat without overwhelming the palate, creating a multifaceted flavor profile that complements the juicy beef and soft buns. This recipe is fitting for those who enjoy burgers with a tropical twist featuring fresh and bold toppings.

Description

The Spicy Hawaiian Burgers recipe starts by combining pineapple, jalapeños, onions, and cilantro into a fresh relish, setting aside the sweet and spicy topping. The homemade Hawaiian BBQ sauce is prepared separately by simmering teriyaki sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic, and crushed red pepper flakes until thickened and fragrant. Ground beef is shaped into patties seasoned with garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper, then grilled to the recommended internal temperature. While still hot, pepper jack cheese slices are placed on the patties to melt.

Assembly involves spreading a chipotle mayo mixture on the buns' bottom halves, then layering the grilled patties, crispy bacon strips, pineapple relish, and the Hawaiian BBQ sauce before topping with the bun tops. The result is a burger offering a balance of savory, spicy, sweet, and smoky flavors with a range of textures from tender beef, melty cheese, crisp bacon, and juicy pineapple relish.

The recipe also suggests using brioche or sweet Hawaiian buns to complement the burger's sweet and spicy notes. These burgers work well as a flavorful and satisfying main dish for grill sessions or casual meals.
