Spicy Margarita

The Spicy Margarita features tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and jalapeño slices balanced with agave nectar for sweetness. Shaken with ice and served in salt-rimmed glasses garnished with fresh jalapeño and lime, it delivers a refreshing cocktail with a spicy kick.

Description

This Spicy Margarita recipe combines good quality silver tequila with triple sec and freshly squeezed lime juice to create a classic margarita base. Jalapeño slices add a spicy element that infuses the drink during shaking, while agave nectar provides balanced sweetness. Margarita salt rims the glasses for an added savory touch, and lime wedges brighten the presentation.

The cocktail is shaken vigorously with ice until chilled and then strained into prepared glasses. Additional fresh jalapeño slices and lime wedges serve as garnishes, amplifying the drink's aroma and flavor. The quality of tequila significantly affects the final taste, so a clear silver tequila is recommended. Fresh lime juice is preferred over bottled for a brighter citrus profile.

Simple syrup can replace agave nectar if necessary, though agave complements tequila's flavor profile better.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 ounces tequila good quality
  • 2 ounces triple sec
  • 1 lime juiced
  • 6-8 jalapeño or more if you want it extra hot, slices
  • 1 Tablespoon agave nectar
  • Margarita salt optional
  • lime for salt rim and garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare two cocktail glasses by running a lime around the rims and then dipping rim into a margarita salt, set aside.
  2. In a cocktail mixer, fill halfway with ice and tequila, triple sec, juice from 1 lime, jalapeno slices, and agave nectar.
  3. Shake for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until the outside of the shaker is chilled.
  4. Strain the drink evenly between the two prepared glasses.
  5. Top with fresh jalapeno slices and lime.

Notes

  • Use a high-quality clear (silver) tequila to achieve the best margarita flavor.
  • Freshly squeeze lime juice instead of using bottled lime juice for brighter taste.
  • Agave nectar can be substituted with simple syrup to sweeten the drink.
