Spicy Moroccan Lamb Burgers
Description
These Spicy Moroccan Lamb Burgers incorporate a combination of aromatic and pungent ingredients including garlic, ginger, chili flakes, cumin, coriander, and smoked paprika into seasoned lamb mince. The mixture is shaped into patties with an indentation in the center to help maintain even cooking and avoid puffing. Grilling or broiling over medium-high heat cooks them to a juicy finish while preserving the spices' aromas.
The flavor profile balances smoky, spicy, and slightly sweet notes from the spices and chili, complementing lamb's rich character. The texture remains tender and moist if handled carefully during mixing and cooking.
Serving these burgers on buns with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, and a dollop of cool tzatziki creates a contrast of spicy, savory meat with crisp, creamy, and refreshing elements. They pair well with roasted potatoes or salad as sides, offering a complete meal with diverse textures and flavors.
The recipe notes offer guidance on nutrition approximation and suggest customizing chili heat level to preference.

- ½ teaspoon chili flakes or more if you like things hotter!
- 1 teaspoon cumin ground
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 3 teaspoons smoked paprika
- salt
- black pepper
To Serve
- tzatziki
- burger buns
- lettuce
- tomato sliced
Instructions
- Place all the burger ingredients in a large bowl and mix together with your hands until thoroughly combined. Really give it a good squishing!
- Divide the mixture into 4 and roll each quarter into a large ball then squash to make a burger patty.
- Press a small dent in the centre of each burger to help stop the burger from rising up too much in the middle.
- Preheat your grill (broiler) to medium high or prepare your BBQ.
- Cook the burgers for 5 minutes on each side or until done to your liking.
- Serve in burger buns on top of lettuce and tomato and with a good dollop of tzatziki on top. If you like serve with wedges, roasted sweet potatoes or roasted new potatoes, salad and more tzatziki on the side.
Notes
- Nutrition info given is an approximation for one burger with bun and 1 tablespoon tzatziki.
- Adjust chili flakes to increase or reduce heat as preferred.
