Spicy New Orleans Shrimp
Description
This recipe starts by peeling and deveining white tiger shrimp, then marinating them in a flavorful mixture including butter, olive oil, sweet chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, oregano, sriracha, minced garlic, and lemon juice. After marinating for 30 minutes to 4 hours, the shrimp are baked at 400°F for 10 to 15 minutes. The cooking method seals in the spicy, smoky, and slightly sweet marinade while allowing the shrimp to remain tender.
The shrimp are served immediately, ideally with crusty French bread to soak up the sauce and an optional extra squeeze of lemon to brighten the flavors. This dish combines a precise balance of heat, smokiness, and acidity typical of New Orleans seafood preparations.
Make-ahead notes mention that the shrimp can be refrigerated for 3 to 4 days or frozen up to 3 months. Thaw before cooking and refrigerate the marinated shrimp while soaking in the flavors. Adjust salt to taste if needed, as the marinade components contribute seasoning.
