Spicy Salmon Marinade Recipe
Description
The Spicy Salmon Marinade Recipe uses a combination of soy sauce and olive oil as a base, with brown mustard, lemon juice, and honey introducing a balance of tanginess and sweetness. Garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes add robust and spicy notes, enhanced by optional diced Serrano pepper for extra heat. Marinating the salmon fillets in this mixture for at least 15 minutes, and ideally up to an hour, allows the flavors to infuse.
For cooking, grilling produces a crispy skin by starting salmon skin side down, typically cooking 4-5 minutes per side over medium heat. Alternatively, baking in an oven at 425°F for 10-12 minutes ensures the salmon cooks through and flakes easily. This marinade helps keep salmon tender and flavorful, complementing the rich fish without overpowering it.
This marinade suits both grilling and baking methods and can be adjusted for spiciness by varying red pepper flakes or Serrano quantity. Lemon juice adds brightness and cuts the richness of salmon.
Marinating the salmon several hours or all day improves taste, but even 30 minutes imparts good flavor. The marinade mixture can also be used for other fish or seafood as desired.
