Description
Spicy Thai Pasta Salad uses cooked bowtie pasta tossed in a dressing made by infusing vegetable and sesame oils with crushed red pepper flakes for heat. Honey and soy sauce balance the spice with sweetness and saltiness, while a pinch of salt ties the dressing together. The salad is refrigerated to allow the pasta to fully absorb these layered flavors.
Before serving, chopped cilantro, honey-roasted peanuts, and sliced green onions are folded in to add fresh herbal notes, crisp texture, and additional mild sweetness. The salad presents a mix of chewy pasta, crunchy nuts, and bright herbaceousness with a lingering spicy warmth.
This dish works well as a lunch, potluck contribution, or side salad, especially when served chilled or at room temperature in warmer climates or seasons.
Ingredients
- 12 ounces bowtie pasta
- 1 to 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes crushed
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup sesame oil
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cilantro chopped, fresh
- 1/2 cup peanuts honey roasted
- 1/2 cup green onion sliced
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions and drain well and transfer to a large mixing bowl.
- Meanwhile, heat vegetable oil and sesame oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add in crushed red pepper stir red pepper, stir, and cook for 2 minutes to infuse the flavor.
- Add in honey, soy sauce and salt. Turn off the heat and mix well. Pour over cooked pasta, coating evenly, and stir until all pasta is coated with oil.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.*
- When ready to serve, stir in chopped cilantro, peanuts and green onions.
