Spinach Carrot Xmas Treats
Description
The Spinach Carrot Xmas Treats recipe starts by combining multi-grain flour with chopped baby spinach, grated carrot, spring onions, cilantro, and spices including chili powder, garam masala, salt, and carom seeds. Water is added to knead the mixture into a smooth dough, which is then chilled to help it set. The dough is rolled thinly and cut into shapes before being shallow fried in butter until both sides achieve a golden-red, crunchy texture.
The combination of fresh vegetables and aromatic spices gives the treats a flavorful, slightly spicy profile. Using multi-grain flour adds texture and a wholesome base. Butter frying offers a rich flavor and crisp exterior, while the relatively thinness of the dough shape allows them to cook evenly and fast. The treats make a unique savory snack suitable for holiday or casual gatherings.
The recipe involves flipping them during frying to ensure even cooking on all sides and achieving a balanced crunch. They are best served warm shortly after cooking to retain their texture and flavor. The dough resting period improves rollability and final texture.
