Spring Green Beans Recipe
Description
The recipe starts with drained canned green beans which are sautéed in olive oil over medium-low heat to warm and lightly cook them while preserving tender texture. Thinly sliced red onions are added for a mild sharpness and sweetness. After cooking, fresh lemon juice is squeezed over the beans to introduce a bright, tangy flavor, along with thin lemon slices that provide a subtle zest and visual appeal. A small amount of red pepper flakes adds gentle spiciness without overpowering the dish.
This side pairs well with a variety of main dishes, offering a fresh and lightly seasoned vegetable option. The method is straightforward and quick, suitable for those looking to enhance canned green beans with simple ingredients for a more vibrant presentation and flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 (14.5-ounce) cans green beans drained
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1/4 /4 medium red onion thinly sliced
- 1 whole lemon halved
- pinch red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Heat skillet over medium - low heat. Add green beans and drizzle with olive oil. Quickly saute green beans, about 3 minutes. Add in rings from slices of red onion.
