Starbucks Eggnog Latte
Description
This latte starts with brewing espresso or a very strong coffee base. Equal parts milk and eggnog are gently heated together, then frothed to create a light, creamy foam that is similar in texture to traditional latte foam but with a richer flavor from the eggnog. When specialized equipment like a milk frother is unavailable, a blender or shaking in a jar can create froth and mix the liquids.
The drink is assembled by pouring the coffee into a cup, topping it with half of the frothed milk and eggnog mixture, and finishing with whipped cream and optional freshly grated nutmeg for aroma and a warm spice note. This preparation results in a cozy and indulgent coffee beverage suitable for holiday occasions or when a richer latte is desired.
The recipe can be adjusted according to equipment availability and personal taste preferences for spice and sweetness. It does not include steps for additional sweeteners beyond the natural eggnog sweetness.
Ingredients
- 3 ounces espresso or very strong coffee
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup eggnog
- nutmeg if desired, freshly ground
- 2 tablespoons Whipped Cream
Instructions
- Prepare espresso or make one very strong coffee.
- Heat together 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of eggnog for about 1 minute in the microwave. Froth mixture using a milk frother. The milk will froth up and almost double in size.
- If you don't have a frother, you can pour the heated milk and eggnog mixture into a blender for about 30 seconds.
- If you don't have a blender, you can put the heated milk and eggnog mixture in a jar or cocktail shaker and shake for about 1 minute.
- Pour espresso or coffee into a coffee cup, and top with 1/2 of the milk and eggnog.
- Top with whipped cream and grated nutmeg if desired.
