Steak Bites

Report
Steak Bites are small pieces of flat iron or top sirloin steak marinated in a blend of low-sodium soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and dried herbs. The marinade tenderizes and flavors the meat, which is then pan-seared to the desired doneness. The result is seared, savory steak pieces that are easy to serve as an appetizer or main dish.

Description

This recipe marinates bite-sized steak pieces in a mixture of soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and dried basil, parsley, and black pepper. The marinade enhances moisture and flavor and can be applied for a minimum of 15 minutes or up to 24 hours for deeper taste and tenderness. Cooking on a very hot skillet quickly sears the steak bites, creating a caramelized crust while retaining moisture inside. Cooking time can be adjusted to preference, with medium-well achieved around 3 minutes.

Steak Bites can be served warm on their own or alongside vegetables, salads, or starches. The marinade ingredients give a savory and herbal profile that complements the beef without overpowering it.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce low-sodium
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced
  • 2 Tablespoons basil dried
  • 1 Tablespoon parsley dried
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 ½ lbs. flat iron steak cut in 1-inch pieces, or top sirloin steak

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients, except steak, in a large ziplock baggie. Stir with a spoon to combine.
  2. Drop steak pieces in and seal shut. Shake gently to coat steak entirely in marinade. Place bag in refrigerator to marinate for 15 minutes or up to 24 hours. (The longer it marinates the more flavorful and tender the steak will be.)
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Heat skillet until it's very hot. Remove steak pieces from marinade using a slotted spoon and place in hot skillet. Discard marinade. Cook steak according to your desired temperature. We like medium-well so I cooked ours for about 3 minutes.
  4. Serve warm and enjoy!
