Steak Tips with Creamy Mushroom Sauce
Description
This dish relies on sirloin steak cut into cubes, seasoned with seasoned salt, and pan-seared to develop a crust. The pan is then used to sauté chopped onions, garlic, and mushrooms until softened. Cream of mushroom soup and water are added, along with fresh parsley, then the mixture goes into the oven covered to cook for an hour. This slow oven process tenderizes the beef and allows the flavors to blend thoroughly, yielding a creamy, savory sauce.
The sauce is characterized by the earthiness of mushrooms and the mild sweetness of cooked onions, balanced with pepper and salt to taste. The beef becomes tender without drying out due to the covered cooking. The finished dish is versatile for serving on top of cooked rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles, making it a comforting entrée with well-rounded flavor.
Preparing the steak tips slightly ahead of time and refrigerating before cutting makes slicing easier. Leftovers store well for a few days and can be reheated gently to preserve moisture and sauce consistency.
