Steakhouse Side Salad

This easy house salad tastes just like the side salad at your favorite steakhouse! Loaded with crisp veggies and drizzled in a creamy buttermilk dressing, this salad is something special!

For the House Salad

  • 4 cups lettuce chopped
  • 4 ounces grape tomatoes
  • 1 cup cucumber chopped
  • 1/2 cup carrot shredded
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup croutons

Buttermilk Dressing

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice fresh
  • 1 garlic pressed, clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chives chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon dill dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper ground

Instructions

For the salad

  1. Assemble each salad by placing 1 cup of lettuce on a salad plate.
  2. Top with 1/4 of each ingredient: tomato, carrots, cucumber, cheddar, and croutons.
  3. Top with dressing as desired.

For the house dressing

  1. In the bottom of a medium bowl, combine the freshly pressed garlic clove, salt, and lemon juice.
  2. Add 1/3 cup buttermilk, mayonnaise, sour cream, pepper, dill, and chives. Whisk together until combined. Add the remaining 1/3 buttermilk until the dressing reaches the desired consistency.
  3. Chill for 20 minutes, then top salads with desired amount.
