Strawberry Crumble

Strawberry Crumble combines fresh strawberries with coconut sugar and cornflour, coated in orange juice, then topped with a whole wheat flour crumble mixed with rolled oats, almond flakes, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and vegan butter. Baking yields a dessert with a juicy, sweet-tart filling under a crisp, nutty topping.

Description

The filling starts with halved strawberries combined with coconut sugar and cornflour to thicken juices, all moistened with fresh orange juice which adds acidity and brightness. This mixture is spread evenly in a baking dish.

The crumble topping consists of whole wheat flour, vegan butter, rolled oats, almond flakes, coconut sugar, and cinnamon, combined by hand until crumbly. Sprinkled atop the fruit, it forms a textured, lightly spiced crust after baking.

Baking at 350°F for 35 minutes softens the strawberries and crisps the topping, creating a contrast between tender fruit and crunchy topping. This crumble can be served warm or cold and suits a range of dietary preferences given its vegan topping.
