Strawberry Harvest Salad Recipe
Description
The Strawberry Harvest Salad Recipe combines chopped romaine lettuce with cooked, seasoned chicken breast and a mix of fruits and nuts, including thinly sliced apples, fresh strawberries, craisins, and candied pecans. Mozzarella cheese adds a creamy texture contrast among the crisp and sweet components. The salad ingredients are tossed together just before serving to preserve freshness and texture.
The accompanying strawberry vinaigrette is made by blending fresh strawberries with apple cider vinegar, olive oil, salt, and black pepper into a smooth dressing. This vinaigrette introduces a fruity acidity that complements the sweetness of the fruits and the savoriness of the chicken. The mixture provides a balance of bright, sweet, and tangy flavors throughout the salad.
Serving this salad demands holding off on adding the dressing and slicing strawberries until just before eating to prevent wilting or mushiness. The rest of the salad can be prepped and refrigerated up to 24 hours in advance. Homemade candied pecans are an option, made by caramelizing pecans with brown sugar and butter before cooling, adding a crunchy sweetness that enhances the salad's texture and flavor.
