Strawberry Iced Tea
Description
Strawberry Iced Tea involves steeping tea bags of choice in boiling water before cooling the tea completely. A strawberry simple syrup made from strawberries, sugar, water, and vanilla extract is added to sweeten and infuse the tea with natural strawberry flavor. The tea is served over ice in either a jug or individual glasses, garnished with fresh strawberries and mint leaves for added aroma and presentation.
The tea's flavor depends on the base tea used, which may be black, green, rooibos, or herbal, providing varying degrees of tannin and body. The strawberry syrup adds a vibrant fruit sweetness, making the drink balanced and refreshing, with mild bitterness from tea softened by the syrup. Using ice ensures the drink is well chilled and ideal for warmer weather or casual entertaining.
Guests can adjust sweetness by adding syrup individually if serving large quantities. The recipe notes suggest not oversteeping tea to avoid bitterness and using ice baths to cool faster. Adding a pinch of baking soda or salt can soften any harshness from the tea. Large tea bags can be used for bulk brewing, and completely cooling before adding syrup preserves flavor balance.
