Strawberry infused tequila
Description
This infusion begins by slicing fresh strawberries and placing them in a large glass jar with a tight lid, then pouring a liter of tequila over them. The jar is sealed and left at room temperature for about three days, with the option to check the flavor after two days to decide if more time is needed. After infusion, the strawberries are strained out and discarded, leaving a strawberry-flavored tequila ready to be bottled.
The resulting infused tequila carries a bright, fruity character from the strawberries without added sugars or other ingredients. This method allows customization of infusion time for preferred flavor strength. The simple infusion works well for cocktails or sipping.
The notes mention flexibility to substitute other spirits such as rum, vodka, pisco, cachaca, aguardiente, or grappa to create different infused liquors using the same process.
Ingredients
- 1 lb strawberry washed and hulled
- 1 liter tequila ~4 cups
Instructions
- Cut the strawberries into slices, you can also cut them in quarters or halves.
- Place the strawberries in a large glass jar, that has a tight lid, and pour the tequila over the strawberries.
- Close the jar and let the strawberries infuse the tequila for about 3 days. You can check the taste on day 2 and see if it needs more time.
- Once the tequila has the desired strawberry flavor, strain and remove the strawberries (discard them). Pour the tequila into an empty glass bottle and use as in cocktails or for sipping/shots.
Notes
- If you prefer a different base, you can infuse other alcohols like rum, vodka, or pisco using the same method.
