Strawberry Lemonade
Description
This strawberry lemonade starts with a simple honey syrup made by gently heating water and honey or sugar until dissolved. Fresh lemon juice and hulled strawberries are blended until smooth, creating a vibrant puree. The puree is combined in a pitcher with the honey syrup, rosewater, and additional cold water to achieve a balanced and refreshing taste.
The rosewater is an optional ingredient that adds a subtle floral note enhancing the flavor profile without overpowering the fruit. This beverage showcases fresh fruit flavors alongside natural sweeteners and bright acidity from lemons. It can easily be prepared ahead and chilled.
Rosewater's versatility means leftover small amounts can be used in desserts, candies, or other drinks. This strawberry lemonade is a straightforward way to enjoy seasonal berries combined with classic lemonade flavors.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup honey or sugar
- 6 lemon juiced (1 1/2 cups lemon juice, large
- 1 pound strawberry hulled
- 5 cups water
- 2 tablespoons rosewater
Instructions
- Make the honey syrup or simple syrup: In a small saucepan set over medium heat, add 1 cup of water and 3/4 cup of honey or sugar. Bring to a low simmer, stirring to dissolve the honey or sugar into the water. This should only take about a minute. If using sugar the liquid should go from gray to clear. If using honey, it should become cohesive.
- Blend the ingredients: Into a blender, add the lemon juice and strawberries. Blend for about 30 seconds until you’ve created a liquid and you don’t have any strawberries pieces. Depending upon the power of your blender you might have to blend it a little longer.
- Enjoy! Into a pitcher, combine the strawberry lemon puree, honey water (or sugar water), rosewater and 4 cups of cold water. Stir to combine.
Notes
- Rosewater is optional but adds a subtle floral aroma and can be used in other desserts or drinks.
- Use fresh strawberries and freshly squeezed lemon juice for best flavor and brightness.
- Make a honey or simple syrup first to ensure the sweetener dissolves evenly in the drink.
