Strawberry Milk
Description
This Strawberry Milk recipe blends cold milk with a homemade strawberry syrup produced by simmering fresh or frozen hulled strawberries, sugar, and water. The syrup is strained to remove solids and cooled completely before combining with the milk. This process ensures a smooth syrup that evenly flavors the milk without pulp.
The flavor is mildly sweet and naturally fruity, with hints of tartness from the strawberries balanced by the creamy richness of the milk. The drink is easily adjustable in sweetness by varying the syrup quantity. Keeping the mixture refrigerated preserves freshness and chill.
Serve strawberry milk as a refreshing beverage at any time of day; it pairs well with breakfast or as a sweet drink for snacks and desserts. Preparing the syrup in advance allows for quick mixing and beverage readiness.
Tips include fully cooling syrup before mixing to avoid reducing milk temperature to unsafe levels, adjusting syrup to taste, and straining the syrup well for a clear liquid. The homemade syrup stores in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk cold
- 2-3 tablespoons Strawberry Syrup
For the syrup
- ¾ cup strawberries hulled and chopped (fresh or frozen)
- ½ cup granulated sugar white, 100g
- ¼ cup water
Instructions
- Stir the strawberry milk syrup (completely cooled if making your own fresh) into the milk. Taste and add more syrup if desired, or dilute with more milk. Keep in the fridge until ready to serve.
- Note: To make the strawberry milk syrup, add all ingredients to a pot and simmer for 10 minutes. Plate a fine mesh sieve over a bowl and pour in the mixture. Press the strawberries to extract as much syrup as possible. Allow the strawberry syrup to cool completely. Store in a lidded container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- Always use completely cooled strawberry syrup to mix with cold milk to maintain safe temperatures.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less syrup according to taste preferences.
- Prepare syrup in advance for convenience and store in a sealed container refrigerated up to 2 weeks.
- Double strain the syrup if a clearer, pulp-free syrup is desired.
- Mix syrup and milk thoroughly for even flavor distribution before serving.
