Strawberry Peach Frosé
Description
Strawberry Peach Frosé uses rosé wine frozen into ice cubes combined with frozen strawberries, peaches, and simple syrup in a blender. This method prevents watering down while producing a creamy, slushy texture. The simple syrup balances the tartness of the fruit and wine, providing just enough sweetness without overwhelming the natural flavors.
The drink showcases the bright, fruity notes of strawberries and peaches, complemented by the wine's delicate acidity. It can be garnished with fresh strawberries for an inviting presentation. Optional additions like rum or peach schnapps can increase the alcohol content and deepen fruit flavors, while a splash of sparkling water lightens it for a spritz effect.
For convenience, freeze the wine into cubes in advance and store them in a sealed bag for up to two months. Prepare simple syrup by dissolving equal parts sugar and water, then cool before blending. Add liquids first in the blender for easier mixing, with frozen solids last.
Ingredients
- 1 (750 ml) bottle rosé wine (see note 1)
- 3 ounces simple syrup (see note 2)
- 1 cup strawberry 4 1/2 ounces, frozen
- 1 cup peaches 4 1/2 ounces, frozen
- strawberry for garnish, fresh
Instructions
- Measure out and reserve 10 ounces wine. Divide remaining wine between 2 ice cube trays and freeze until firm, about 2 hours (frozen wine cubes can be frozen in a zipper-lock bag for up to 2 months).
- To a blender, and in this order, add the reserved 10 ounces wine, simple syrup, strawberries, peaches, and frozen wine cubes. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides of the jar as necessary. Pour into chilled wine glasses and garnish with strawberries.
Notes
- Freeze rosé wine in ice cube trays and store cubes in a ziplock bag up to 2 months ahead.
- Make simple syrup by dissolving equal parts sugar and water over heat, then cool before use.
- Add liquids first when blending, followed by fruit and frozen wine cubes last for smooth blending.
- Optional: Boost flavor and alcohol with rum or peach schnapps, or lighten with a splash of sparkling water.
- Substitute rosé with sauvignon blanc, pinot Grigio, or riesling; avoid white zinfandel as it is too sweet.
