Strawberry Vodka Lemonade
Description
Strawberry Vodka Lemonade combines fresh strawberries, lemon zest and juice, vodka, and a chilly dilution of water to form a vibrant cocktail. A homemade strawberry simple syrup, made by simmering strawberries with sugar and water, infuses an intense berry flavor that complements fresh muddled berries and lemon zest in the main mix. The preparation involves balancing the pulpiness from the fresh berries with the smooth, clean liquid base.
The drink is served cold over ice with garnishes of sliced strawberry and lemon, highlighting its fresh citrus and berry elements. Its moderate sweetness and fruity acidity make it a versatile option for relaxed occasions or summer festivities.
For convenience, the strawberry simple syrup can be prepared up to five days in advance, and the cocktail keeps well in the fridge for up to two days if stored in a pitcher with a lid. Ice should be added right before serving to maintain its chilled character without dilution.

Strawberry Simple Syrup
- ¼ pound strawberries fresh or frozen, and hulled
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
Instructions
Make the Strawberry Simple Syrup
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the strawberries, water, and sugar. Let them simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the strawberries are slumped and look ugly and their red color has been leached into the simple syrup.
- Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a heat-safe container. This can be made up to 5 days ahead of time!
Make the Strawberry Vodka Lemonade Cocktail
- At the bottom of a pitcher or in a medium sized mixing bowl, smash the fresh strawberries with the lemon zest, and granulated sugar until the strawberries are releasing juice and are well muddled.
- Add the lemon juice, vodka, and cold water to the pitcher (or add the mashed and macerated strawberries to the pitcher with the water if you used a bowl). Stir well.
- Add the strawberry simple syrup to the pitcher and stir well to combine. Add ice and serve cold!
Notes
- Prepare the strawberry simple syrup ahead and store it in the refrigerator for up to five days.
- Keep the mixed cocktail refrigerated, covered, for up to two days before serving.
- Add ice only immediately before serving to prevent dilution.
