Sugar Free Raspberry Jam

Sugar Free Raspberry Jam uses fresh or thawed raspberries combined with chia seeds, vanilla, water, lemon juice, and powdered sweetener to create a naturally thickened fruit spread. The chia seeds absorb moisture, helping the jam to set without added sugar. This jam offers a bright raspberry flavor with subtle sweetness and a smooth, slightly textured consistency depending on preparation choices.

Description

This sugar free raspberry jam combines mashed fresh raspberries with chia seeds, vanilla extract or paste, water, lemon juice, and a powdered sweetener to create a low-sugar fruit spread. The chia seeds absorb the liquid to thicken the mixture without boiling or added pectin, which preserves fresh fruit flavor. The addition of vanilla and lemon balances the natural tartness of raspberries and enhances aroma.

The jam thickens after resting in the refrigerator overnight or thickens within 20 minutes if chilled briefly. It can be kept refrigerated for up to one week to maintain its texture and flavor. For longer storage, it can be frozen in portioned containers or ice cube trays and thawed as needed.

Grinding the chia seeds before mixing will yield a smoother consistency, while pushing the berry mixture through a sieve can create a jelly texture. This flexibly allows for personal texture preferences in a homemade, sugar free preserve.

  • Keep the jam refrigerated in a sealed container for up to one week to preserve freshness and texture.
  • For extended storage, freeze the jam in portioned containers or ice cube trays for up to three months, thawing as needed for each serving.
  • Grinding the chia seeds before use produces a smoother jam, and passing the mixture through a sieve results in a jelly-like consistency.
