Sweet and Sour Meatballs {Easy!}

This recipe combines chili sauce and grape jelly to create a simple, tangy sweet and sour sauce that perfectly coats meatballs or cocktail sausages. The sauce is stirred until smooth and then heated with the meatballs until they are cooked through, making it a convenient and flavorful dish for parties or casual meals.

Description

Sweet and Sour Meatballs {Easy!} features a sauce made from mixing chili sauce and grape jelly, resulting in a glossy, sweet and tangy coating. The method involves heating this sauce until smooth before adding meatballs or cocktail sausages, which cook in the sauce either slowly in a crock pot or quickly on the stove. This gentle heating infuses the meat with contrasting sweetness and tang, balancing savory elements. The sauce melts together as it heats, ensuring consistent flavor on every bite.

The dish is typically served warm, suitable as an appetizer or part of a larger meal. Its straightforward preparation and few ingredients make it a practical choice for entertaining or quick meal prep. Using cocktail sausages or frozen meatballs adds flexibility without affecting the sauce’s appeal.

The notes specify that nutritional values were calculated using cocktail sausages, which indicates different meat choices can be used interchangeably based on preference or availability. The method’s low and slow crock pot option allows preparation in advance, while stovetop cooking offers a speedier alternative.
